ATLANTA (February 22, 2016) | On Monday, the Georgia State Senate passed by an unanimous vote of 52-0 Senate Bill 337. Sen. Larry Walker III (R – Perry) sponsored SB 337, the Military Family Health Protection Act. SB 337 provides Georgia active military personnel and their dependents the right to eligibility and retention of earned priority for medical assistance or developmental disability services, even if they are temporarily stationed outside of Georgia. Sen. Jeff Mullis Files Legislation to Study Narcotic Treatment Center Operations and Licensure Process

ATLANTA (February 19, 2016)  |  Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) has filed legislation to place a temporary moratorium on new applications and licenses for new narcotic treatment centers in Georgia. Senate Bill 402 will also create a state commission to study the current licensure process and the density of narcotic treatment centers currently operating in Georgia. The legislation was filed out of growing concern over the large concentration of narcotic treatment programs and the documented increase of heroin addiction within the state. Continue reading “Sen.
