ATLANTA (June 15, 2017) | Sen. Nan Orrock (D – Atlanta) and Rep. Keisha Waites (D – Atlanta) will partner in a volunteer project organized by AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company, on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Heritage Academy Elementary School in Atlanta.
“These partnerships are key to providing wraparound services that so often are the first to go as public education budgets get squeezed,” said Sen. Orrock. “We are proud of AbbVie for stepping up to show children that others want to invest in their educational futures.”
“As a public servant, I am thrilled that Heritage Academy Elementary has been selected for this opportunity, and this service project is a great opportunity for me to build stronger relationships within the community,” said Rep. Waites. “I look forward to volunteering alongside many of AbbVie’s Atlanta employees as we work to enhance Heritage Academy Elementary.”
During the project, volunteers will renovate Heritage Academy Elementary School’s library. Between 40 and 50 AbbVie employees from the Atlanta area are expected to participate in the volunteer project.
