ATLANTA (January 13, 2017) | State Senator Larry Walker III (R- Perry) has been selected to serve as an Administration Floor Leader for the 2017 Legislative Session by Gov. Nathan Deal.
“I am honored to be selected by Gov. Deal to serve as a floor leader,” said Sen. Walker. “I look forward to working with the governor to pass his legislative priorities that address the issues that are important to Georgians and my constituents. I’m excited to help with his efforts to promote private sector job growth, ensure access to quality healthcare for all Georgians, improve K-12 education, and support our veterans and law enforcement. The responsibility of serving as a floor leader is one that I am happy and humbled to take on, and I am eager to serve District 20 and the State of Georgia in this capacity.”
Sen. Walker will work alongside Senators P.K. Martin IV (R- Lawrenceville) and Butch Miller (R- Gainesville) to carry the governor’s bills as floor leaders in the Senate. The first term of the 154th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly convened on January 9, 2017, at the Georgia State Capitol.
Sen. Walker was elected in December 2015 and represents Senate District 20. He is a member of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Health and Human Services, Insurance and Labor, and Veterans, Military and Homeland Security Committees. Sen. Walker also serves on the joint House and Senate Agricultural Exposition Authority Overview Committee.
