COLUMBUS (November 14, 2016) | Sen. Ed Harbison (D – Columbus) and Rep. John Yates (R – Griffin) were honored by Columbus Technical College with an appreciation award and a scholarship established in their names on Thursday, Nov. 10. Sen. Harbison and Rep. Yates both served as keynote speakers at the event to share their experiences during the Vietnam War and WWII, respectively.
“I am grateful to be honored in this capacity by Columbus Technical College and to have a scholarship named in my honor. I am proud to be a part of a scholarship that is helping students succeed,” said Sen. Harbison. “President Loretta M. Hoover and everyone at Columbus Technical College should be commended for the respect and support they give to our state’s veterans.”
In addition to the award and scholarship, Sen. Harbison and Rep. Yates will have donations made to the charity of their choice by Columbus Technical College. Sen. Harbison is a Purple Heart recipient and Vietnam War veteran who represents Georgia’s 15th senatorial district.
