Sen. Tyler Harper Receives Council of Probate Court Judges Legislator of the Year Award

ATLANTA (June 3, 2015)  |  Sen. Tyler Harper (R –Ocilla) recently received the Council of Probate Court Judges Legislator of the Year Award.  The council cited several of his 2015 legislative achievements to eliminate barriers currently facing probate courts in an effort to increase efficiency.

“I’m deeply honored for this recognition from the Council of Probate Court Judges,” said Sen. Harper. “With each legislative session, we have a unique opportunity to address the needs and concerns of our constituents.  I want to thank Judge Chase Daughtrey and everyone with the council for working with me to address issues that hindered probate judges so that they can better serve the people of Georgia.”

“Sen. Harper sponsored our bill that clarified the jurisdiction of probate courts and superior courts over certain fish and game violations,” said Judge Chase Daughtrey, the Council’s Immediate Past President.  “This was a long overdue measure that was supported by the Department of Natural Resources and the state’s judges, which will result in these violations being heard and resolved more quickly.”

Each year, the Council of Probate Court Judges presents a state senator and representative with its Legislator of the Year award to recognize their efforts in the Georgia General Assembly furthering the improvement of the probate courts.

Sen. Harper represents Georgia’s 7th Senate District and serves as Chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee, the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, and Secretary of the Senate Natural Resources and Environment Committee.  He is also a member of the Senate Retirement Committee.
