ATLANTA (September 24, 2013) – Senator Hardie Davis spent yesterday afternoon at Golden Living Center in Augusta as part of the national “WALK! With Aegis Therapies” wellness event. Monday was the first day of a week-long celebration at Golden Living Center spotlighting the benefits of regular physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
“Although it is important to start an active lifestyle at an early age, it is also just as important to continue that lifestyle as one grows older. I greatly appreciate Golden Living Center’s efforts to spread the word that health and wellness is important at every age, and I was delighted to partake in Monday’s activities with such a lively and fun group of participants,” said Senator Davis.
Senator Davis participated in several programs, including a group walk and a cooking demonstration with Chef Darin Leonardson, Director of Dining and Hospitality at Golden Living Center. All of Monday’s programs nationwide focused on the importance of intellectual wellness. The rest of the week will emphasize emotional wellness, spiritual wellness, occupational wellness and social wellness. At the end of the week, event participants will celebrate individual successes and milestones at a lively social event with family, friends and caregivers.
“WALK! With Aegis Therapies” is a five-day event supporting the nationally recognized Active Aging Week. From September 23 through September 27, thousands of senior facility residents across the nation will participate in a wide range of activities designed to support all dimensions of wellness.
