ATLANTA, Ga. (May 1, 2013) –President Pro Tempore David Shafer (R-Duluth) released the following statement on the selection of his constituent, Wilson Creek Elementary School 5th grader Christine Jeong, as the Georgia state winner of the sixth annual Google for Doodle contest.
“I congratulate Christine Jeong on being selected as the Georgia state winner of the sixth annual Doodle for Google contest. She is a gifted young artist, and I share the pride of her family, friends and teachers in her talent and creativity.”
“I have already cast my vote for Christine’s submission at Google’s doodle4google website. I wish her every success as she represents our great state in this national competition.”
Miss Jeong’s selection was announced today in Johns Creek at a special assembly at Wilson Creek Elementary School. Her artwork, along with the submissions of the state winners, will be displayed at the American Museum of National History in New York. The national winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and his or her artwork will be displayed on the Google homepage on May 23.
