ATLANTA (March 21, 2013) – Sen. Mike Crane (R-Newnan) co-sponsored Senate Resolution 426 to honor local hero from Coweta County.
Deputy Jason Michael Ross of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department received the Valor Service Award from the Peace Officers Association of Georgia for his quick response and bravery when he rescued Trischica Leatrice Evans, of Newnan, from her burning car on September 10, 2011.
Ross was unable to put out Evans’ blazing Dodge Durango with a fire extinguisher. He then attempted to rescue Evans from the burning car by himself. At this point, a passerby stopped to offer assistance. With the good Samaritan’s aid, Ross successfully pulls Evans to safety while suffering burns to his face and arms.
“Deputy Ross acted courageously and selflessly to save Trischica Evans,” said Sen. Crane. “I’m proud to represent a community with outstanding citizens like Deputy Ross.”
