Rogers Named Most Influential Georgian by Most Georgia Trend Magazine

ATLANTA (February 6, 2011) –Georgia Trend Magazine has honored Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) by naming him one of the “100 Most Influential Georgians”. The list honors the state’s most powerful and influential citizens, drawn from business, industry, government, politics, education, science and the arts. This is the 14th edition of Georgia Trend’s 100 Most Influential Georgians.

Georgia Trend identified Rogers as one who never shies away from controversial issues or hard work, and identifies this as the reason why his senate colleagues selected him as their majority leader.  Georgia Trend notes his leadership in the push for tougher immigration laws and state spending limits and efforts to pass one of the nation’s toughest dog-fighting laws.

“It is an incredible honor to be named to such a prestigious list. I am humbled to be included among the many community and state leaders who are working diligently to make Georgia the greatest state in our nation,” said Rogers. “Serving my constituents and all the citizens of Georgia is something I truly enjoy. As long as I am privileged to serve the people of Georgia, I will remain steadfast in my commitment to limited government, fiscal responsibility, pro-job tax reform, 21st century education reform and increased protection for Georgia’s children.

In 2011, Rogers was unanimously re-elected majority leader of the Georgia Senate. He is serving his 5th term in the Georgia General Assembly. During his tenure in the Senate, Rogers sponsored and passed a widespread and significant list of legislative accomplishments including the nation’s strongest immigration enforcement laws. Rogers has additionally championed identity theft and protection legislation, government spending transparency, Georgia’s first credit freeze law, Second Amendment protection, and some of America’s toughest restrictions on dog-fighting.

Recently, Rogers has taken front row on the fight for education reform and freedom in school choice. Rogers has consistently worked for education reform in Georgia leading the way on special needs scholarships, student scholarship organizations, increased opportunities for virtual education, grade integrity, and higher priority for education funding in the State budget.
