Majority Leader Steve Gooch Assigned to Senate Committees

ATLANTA (January 12, 2022) | Today, Majority Leader Steve Gooch (R – Dahlonega) was appointed to serve on a number of Senate Committees for the 2023 Legislative Session. Due to his role as Majority Leader of the Senate Majority Caucus, Sen. Gooch serves as a member of the Senate Committee on Assignments. The Senate Committee on Assignments it chaired by the President of the Senate, the Lieutenant Governor, and is composed of the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, The Majority Leader, and two senators chosen by the Lieutenant Governor. The committee is responsible for assigning the Senate Body to committees in addition to having such duties that the Lt. Governor may assign to it at his discretion.

Governor Burt Jones and my colleagues on the committee for their diligent efforts and all of the hard work that went into assigning committees for this legislative session.   • Transportation
  • Appropriations
  • Finance
  • Regulated Industries
  • Reapportionment and Redistricting
  • Ex Officio on: Rules; Insurance and Labor; Natural Resources; Education and Youth; Ethics; Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security; Judiciary

Sen. Gooch was elected by his Senate Republican colleagues in November to the office of Majority Leader, the ranking member of the Republican Caucus of the Georgia Senate.
