ATLANTA (April 16, 2010) – State Sen. Chip Pearson (R-Dawsonville) recently welcomed the Dawson County High School Chorus to Atlanta, where students performed in the historic Georgia State Capitol.
“The Dawson County High School Chorus delivered a wonderful performance under the Gold Dome today,” said Pearson. “Their director, Spencer Wright, has done an amazing job of directing these students to perform to the best of their ability. I was honored to host this talented group of high school students and have them in Atlanta for the day.”
The chorus, which consists of high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, performed several classical songs, then displayed their ability to perform more modern pieces by breaking into a rendition of The Beatles’ “Baby You Can Drive My Car.” Students toured the Capitol and participated in a mock legislative session in the Senate Chamber, then had the opportunity to meet with Pearson and House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge).
Sen. Chip Pearson serves as chairman of the Economic Development Committee. He represents the 51st Senate District which includes Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Lumpkin, Pickens, and Union counties and portions of Forsyth and White counties.
