Mullis: Georgia’s Transportation Plan

ATLANTA (Jan. 14, 2010) – Sen. Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga), chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, made the following statement today following Gov. Perdue’s announcement on the State Transportation Plan:

“Providing a transportation plan for our great state is a critical step to continue moving Georgia forward.  This year there will be a collaborative effort with the Governor and both chambers of the General Assembly to establish and execute a plan that will provide effective transportation relief for Georgia’s current and future citizens and businesses.  It is of vital importance that we maintain and improve existing roads and transit systems and implement transportation projects.  These services will provide needed congestion relief and prepare Georgia for future growth in both population and economic development while creating new jobs and revenue streams for transportation funding.  I look forward to working diligently with the Governor and my colleagues in the General Assembly to ensure Georgia’s future success in this matter.”
