Senator Jim Butterworth Named to the Norton Native Intelligence Top 10 Next Generation Leaders

ATLANTA (January 26, 2009)—Senator Jim Butterworth (R-Cornelia) was recently named the first of the Top 10 Next Generation Leaders by the Norton Native Intelligence Report.

Norton Native Intelligence is a newsletter sent out by The Norton Agency, North Georgia’s largest, oldest and most successful real estate and insurance firm. For the last eight years it has recognized and reported the 10 Next Generation Leaders who are carefully considered and selected because of the power of change they wield or the impact they play on the changing landscape of North Georgia

“I am privileged to be appointed such honors,” Sen. Butterworth said. “I will be sure to live up to these high regards and represent Northern Georgia well in the Senate to have a productive and successful session as we work though this time of tight budgets.”

Butterworth is well prepared to serve his region with his experience as a pilot, former County Commissioner, volunteer and community supporter. The Norton Native Intelligence Report stated that Butterworth’s rise to the State Senate was a “slow methodical step-by-step process built on wise decisions, good measure and visionary leadership.” They called him “bold and decisive,” and proclaimed that he is “sure to be a strong representative and advocate for our economic vitality.”

Butterworth has been very involved with his senate position as secretary of the Economic Development Committee and a member of the Education and Youth, Veterans, Military and Homeland Security, and Retirement Committees.
