Governor to Sign Sen. Jones’ MLK Council Bill
ATLANTA (May 6, 2011) – Governor Nathan Deal is scheduled to sign Senate Bill 141 into law, Sen. Emanuel Jones’ (D-Decatur) bill to establish a Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council to coordinate activities in observance of the MLK holiday. The bill signing will take place on Monday, May 9 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Sen. Curt Thompson to Host Public Forum On Immigration Reform
ATLANTA (May 6, 2011) – Sen. Curt Thompson (D-Tucker) invites all immigrants and citizens to attend his public forum on the Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011. This event is sponsored by Georgia Southern University’s Committee for Tolerance and Community Collaboration, Voices Unidas and the Southeastern Georgia Communities Project. Sen. Thompson will be on hand to discuss the potential changes to Georgia’s immigration law and address any questions, concerns, or comments relating to the recent passage of House Bill 87.
