CLARKESVILLE (June 10, 2010) – The Transparency in Government Act (SB 389) and the Paper Reduction Act (SB 388) were signed into law by Gov. Sonny Perdue. Sen. Jim Butterworth (R-Clarkesville) authored the legislation promoting further transparency and savings in government. The Transparency in Government Act will enhance reporting requirements of the public information website, open.georgia.gov. The Paper Reduction Act will bring cost savings by reducing the unnecessary, wasteful use of paper and increase electronic distribution and publication practices. Georgia’s Lawful Carry Act signed into Law
SHARPSBURG (June 8, 2010) – The Georgia Common Sense Lawful Carry Act, authored by State Sen. Mitch Seabaugh (R-Sharpsburg), was signed into law today by Gov. Sonny Perdue. Georgia’s 400,000 lawfully carrying citizens and Georgia’s law enforcement officials now have clearer guidelines as to where weapons can and cannot be carried. Sen. Jones announces Golf Tournament Benefitting Scholarships for High School Students
ATLANTA (June 8, 2010) – Sen. Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur), chairman of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), is inviting his constituents and Georgians everywhere for a round of golf at the prestigious Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge on Friday, June 25, to benefit the GLBC scholarship fund. The tournament is open to the general public, who will have the chance to play alongside Jones and members of the caucus. Proceeds raised from ticket sales will go to benefit the GLBC scholarship fund, which has helped students from across the state pursue a higher education.
