Rogers: Balancing the State Budget Begins

ATLANTA, GA (Jan. 19, 2010) – The budget process began this week with Gov. Sonny Perdue (R-GA) presenting the 2010 Amended and 2011 General State budgets to the Georgia General Assembly.  As an active leader of the Senate Appropriations Committee and one of three Senate Budget conferees, Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) is participating in the joint budget hearings at the Capitol this week.

Senator Fort to Speak Against Closing of Crown Roads Post Office

WHAT:   State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) will join community leaders to discuss their opposition to the closing of the Atlanta Crown Roads Post Office tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rosel Fann Recreation Center in Atlanta, Ga.  All services provided by the Crown Roads post office will be moved to a location in Gwinnett County under a proposal by the United States Postal Service.

Notes from the Georgia Senate: Week One

ATLANTA (Jan. 19, 2010) – Last week marked the beginning of the 151st Georgia State Senate Session. Georgia has a rich history dating back hundreds of years. We have seen many tumultuous periods from World War I to the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. Each time, our state comes out as a better, stronger state. This recession is yet another trying time but I am confident that all members of the legislature will work diligently for the people of Georgia so we can emerge once again as a national leader. Senator James Announces Haitian Relief Campaign

ATLANTA (Jan. 15, 2010) – Sen. Donzella James (D-College Park) has joined forces with East Point Mayor Earnestine D. Pittman, State Rep. Joe Heckstall (D-East Point) and the Honorable Patsy Jo Hilliard, former mayor of East Point, to encourage schools, businesses and members of the faith community to make generous monetary donations to the citizens of Haiti.
