Valencia Seay Center Provides Safe, Academic Environment for Children

ATLANTA (September 27, 2012) – Lite House Partners Inc. dedicated a new location to Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) on Wednesday.  The new Lite House activity center will be called the Valencia Seay Center, located at the Lakeview Trails Apartment Homes in College Park at 5724 Riverdale Rd.

“I am overwhelmed at the opportunity to have a Lite House site in my district and named in my honor that not only helps kids in apartment complexes to have a safe place to get homework done and to receive a snack, but also to be provided with academic tutoring.  Lite House is a life line for working people and it gives a safe alternative to latchkey situations,” said Sen. Seay.
Lite House Partners is a non-profit organization that provides free after-school and summer camp programs to the low-income youth of local apartment communities since 2001.  They have more than 50 activity centers in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

The Valencia Seay Center is on the west side of the Lakeview Trails Apartment community.  A free after-school and summer camp program, which has services such as CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests) tutoring, mentoring, computer labs, and homework assistance for school age children, will be provided at the facility.

“The children in these apartment communities will see that other people in their community care outside of mom and dad,” said Melvin Morris, Lite House Partners Inc. Executive Director. “The Lite House program keeps kids out of trouble and gives them something constructive to do and my goal is to have a Lite House activity center in every apartment community, nationwide.”
