This thorough review of legislation has allowed us to speak with you about your opinions, concerns and what you believe are the areas that are most critical. Crossover Day is only a few short days away and we are working hard to ensure the bills that pass out of the Senate Chamber have your best interests in mind. With this all important deadline, we were efficient in our work this week and passed several significant pieces of legislation that we believe are impactful for all of Georgia.

Senator Michelle Au, M.D. to Host Community Health Forum

ATLANTA (February 26, 2021) | Sen. Michelle Au, M.D. (D – Johns Creek) will host a virtual forum on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the constitutionality of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate, as well as the intersectionality between community health and individual rights. Joining the discussion will be Professor Jamal Greene, a constitutional law professor at Columbia University Law School.

Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, and Chairwoman Sen. Tonya Anderson, Recognize One-Year Anniversary of the Death of Ahmaud Arbery with Support of House Bill 45

ATLANTA (February 25, 2021) | This week, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Chairwoman, Senator Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia), along with members of the Caucus, the Georgia National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia, and others, stood in solidarity to announce their support for House Bill 45 and House Bill 479. They announced their support of legislation to end the practice of citizen’s arrest in Georgia on the one-year anniversary of the death of Ahmaud Arbery.
