Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chairwoman Sen. Tonya Anderson on Metro Atlanta Shootings

ATLANTA (March 17, 2021) | In response to the alleged targeted murder of Asian women in the Metro Atlanta region, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chair Senator Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia)  issued the following statement:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) is saddened and appalled by the wanton display of violence that took place last night. This morning eight people are dead, six being Asian women, for reasons yet discovered. Our hearts and prayers go to the families and friends of the deceased. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the Georgia General Assembly of Asian or Pacific Island identity in vehemently condemning this senseless act of violence.

Senator Sonya Halpern Honors Historically Black Colleges and Universities at Georgia State Capitol

ATLANTA (March 17, 2021) | Sen. Sonya Halpern (D – Atlanta), along with Gov. Brian Kemp, hosted the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Heritage Day at the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday, March 16th. Georgia boasts the second-most HBCUs in the country with 10 institutions throughout the state.
