Statement from Sen. Jeff Mullis on Fort Oglethorpe Legislation

ATLANTA (April 1, 2013) – Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) has released the following statement regarding legislative action calling for the creation of the City of Fort Oglethorpe Charter Study Committee.

“The legislative delegation from Fort Oglethorpe has come together to take action regarding the city’s recent personnel changes, and the resulting legislation is a response to the hundreds of phone calls received about this matter. By creating a committee to study the charter of Ft. Oglethorpe, citizens will be able to have their say on the issues surrounding the city and we can look at implementing measures that will prevent the future abuse of power by the mayor and some of the city council members.

Committee members will be chosen by the legislative delegation and will include registered voters and verified city residents, along with business owners who have created a positive fiscal impact on the city’s economy. I am looking forward to working with my counterparts in the House and engaging in open and honest conversations about Fort Oglethorpe with concerned citizens and stakeholders.”
