Statement from Sen. Hunter Hill on SB 122 Bill Signing

ATLANTA (May 1, 2013) – Sen. Hunter Hill (R-Smyrna) has released the following statement regarding the final passage and ceremonial bill signing of Senate Bill 122:

“I commend Governor Nathan Deal for signing Senate Bill 122 into law today and would like to recognize the dedication of my colleagues in both the House and Senate for their favorable consideration of this bill. This pro-business legislation is vital toward streamlining the process by which foreign nationals can receive a temporary driver’s license or identification permit as they are working to grow Georgia’s economy.”

“Senate Bill 122 was the first bill I presented as a freshmen lawmaker and I believe it is a positive step in the right direction toward strengthening Georgia’s stance as a global business leader.  Companies run by foreign nationals will be able to grow and prosper because of this effort to synch current federal law with state law.

“I was extremely pleased to join Governor Deal and representatives from Georgia’s business community at the Kia Motors Plant in West Point, Georgia for the ceremonial bill signing of Senate Bill 122.  Businesses like Kia Motors who employ a large number of foreign nationals will significantly benefit from this legislation.”
