State Senator Hunter Hill Sworn into Office

ATLANTA (January 16, 2013) – State Senator Hunter Hill (R-Smyrna) was officially sworn into office on Monday, January 14, 2013, to represent the 6th Senate District at the state capitol. In this new role, Sen. Hill will serve portions of Cobb and Fulton counties.

“It has always been my unwavering belief that the affairs of state and local government are best served through conservative, commonsense leadership. “As a newly elected representative of the 6th Senate District, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the General Assembly to make Georgia a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

A native of Vinings and Buckhead, Hunter Hill currently lives in Smyrna, Georgia.  After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Hunter became a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army.  Hunter went on to graduate from Air Assault, Airborne, and the US Army Ranger Schools.

In June, 2001, Hunter took command of a rifle platoon with the 101st Airborne Division.  In January, 2002, Hunter led his first platoon into battle in Afghanistan.  During his time in the Army, Hunter served three separate tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, served as a General’s aide in Iraq, and earned two Army Commendation Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal and two Bronze Stars.

After his Army career, Hunter began his business career in real estate and is now the Director of Security for SecurAmerica.  In addition to his leadership roles, Hunter is active in the community.  He has volunteered to assist the Smyrna Veterans Committee, the Cobb County Citizens Oversight Committee for the T-SPLOST, Cobb County GOP Veterans Association and the Georgia Energy Forum.  Hunter graduated from the inaugural class of the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute in 2010, and he is a current Board Member of the Department of Driver Services, appointed by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.

Sen. Hill is married to Shannan Reese Hill. They are the proud parents of Hunter Bradley Hill, Junior and Annie Christine Hill.  The Hills attend Church of the Apostles in Buckhead where Hunter grew up playing the drums in the church band.
