State Senator Chip Rogers Announces 7th Annual PAGE Contest

WOODSTOCK (December 3, 2008) – State Senator Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) today announced the details for his annual PAGE Contest. Beginning its seventh year, students between the ages of 12-17 and who live in southern Cherokee County or Northeast Cobb County can enter to serve a day at the State Capitol working as an official PAGE during the 2009 Legislative Session.

“The PAGE program is a fun and invaluable experience for a student who wants to gain first-hand knowledge of how their state government works,” said Sen. Rogers. “Getting to spend a day working on the same floor where former U.S. Congressmen and Senators, governors, and even a U.S. president got their start in politics is something they will remember for the rest of their lives.”

In addition to working a day on the Senate floor during the 2009 Legislative Session, winning students will receive an excused absence from school, $10, and lunch with Sen. Rogers. The PAGE days will occur during the 2009 Georgia General Assembly Session, with the likely dates during February or March.

To enter the contest, eligible students must submit a 500-word essay with the topic “My Favorite Georgian.” The subject of the essay should be someone who lived or has lived the majority of his or her life in Georgia.

All entries should be sent to:
Senator Chip Rogers
325 Coverdell Legislative Office Building
Atlanta, Georgia 30334

Entries must be received by January 23rd, 2009. Please include your preferred contact information to be notified if selected as a PAGE. Winners will be chosen by Sen. Rogers and his staff no later than February 13th, 2009.

Sen. Chip Rogers serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He represents the 21st Senate District which includes portions of Cherokee and Cobb counties. He can be reached at his office at 404.463.1378 or by email at chip.rogers@senate.ga.gov.
