SENATOR REED HONORS DR. ROGSBERT PHILIPS AND SISTER’S BY CHOICE INC.

ATLANTA (March 27, 2009) – State Senator Kasim Reed’s (D-Atlanta) honored and recognized Dr. Rogsbert Phillips and Sister’s by Choice, Inc. today with an “Outstanding Community Service Award” for their tireless efforts in raising breast cancer awareness.Dr. Phillips is the Founder of Sisters By Choice, Inc., an organization that offers programs that increase awareness, education, and early detection, provides treatment programs for underserved and at-risk community members, and provides counseling services and a support network for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.

“Dr. Phillips and Sisters By Choice, Inc. are leading the fight against breast cancer,” said Reed. “I am pleased to recognize their leadership on this very important health issue for women and all Georgians.”

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Georgia women and the second highest cause of their death. Every year, more than 5,200 Georgia women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 20 percent die from this disease.
