Senator John F. Kennedy Honored with 2017 ACCG Legislative Service Award

ATLANTA (November 2, 2017) | On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, Sen. John F. Kennedy (R – Macon) was honored with the 2017 ACCG Legislative Service Award.

“It is truly humbling to be recognized by ACCG and their membership,” said Sen. Kennedy. “I commend them for their efforts and tireless work on getting SB 222 through the legislative process. This legislation started the important conversation on the urgent need to address best practices for 9-1-1 centers and local communities. I look forward to working with ACCG and other stakeholders to ensure lines of communication remain open between the Senate and local communities on this issue and any others that affect the safety and wellbeing of our citizens throughout the state.”

“The ACCG Legislative Service Awards honor those who understand the importance of county governments and use their position to make Georgia a better place by purposefully improving the lives of citizens,” said ACCG Executive Director Ross King. “They are a reflection of what true government collaboration looks like.”

ACCG honored Sen. Kennedy with this award for his work during the 2017 legislative session. Sen. Kennedy sponsored Senate Bill 222, the counterpart to House Bill 446, also known as the “9-1-1 bill.” The ACCG Legislative Service Award is meant to honor legislators who work with ACCG and its members to advance their legislative priorities. Sen. Kennedy was honored with the award during an ACCG meeting in Macon-Bibb County.
