Senator Ed Harbison Welcomes International Military Students to the State Capitol

ATLANTA (July 28, 2016) | Sen. Ed Harbison (D – Columbus) will host a group of students this Friday, July 29th from the International Military Student Office (IMSO), located in Ft. Benning, Ga.

“It is truly an honor to once again host some of the talented and dedicated students of the International Military Student Office,” said Sen. Harbison. “I look forward to sharing a little more about the state of Georgia and I am eager to see how the experiences, skills and training gained while in the U.S. shape our relationships with the student’s home countries.”

Once the students are briefed on the operation of state government and its relationship to federal government, they will tour the Capitol.

The first official IMSO was established in 1950 at Ft. Knox. More than 8,500 International Military Students representing over 100 different countries have participated in the program to gain a thorough understanding of U.S. society, ideas, institutions and commitment to internationally recognized human rights.
