Senator Dean Burke Delivers Commencement Address at Georgia Southwestern

Sen Burke Commencement cropAMERICUS (December 15, 2015) | Senator Dean Burke (R- Bainbridge) delivered the commencement address to the last class of 2015 at his alma mater, Georgia Southwestern State University on Saturday.

“It was an incredible honor to have the opportunity to speak to the future leaders of our state as they leave one chapter of their lives and enter into another,” said Sen. Burke. “I hope they can all see the impression they left on this incredible university and the impact they will have in their future endeavors. Being able to speak to my alma mater was a humbling experience that I hope I get to do again soon.”

“We are delighted that Sen. Burke returned to his alma mater to speak during Fall Commencement,” said GSW Interim President Charles Patterson, Ph.D. “He represents Georgia Southwestern well as a leader in Atlanta and in Southwest Georgia as an experienced physician, and our graduates greatly benefitted from his experience and message.”

Georgia Southwestern State University is a public, four-year university located in Southwest Georgia. The University offers professional programs of study and degrees in the arts, education, humanities, nursing and sciences, as well as several graduate studies. There were approximately 280 graduates who participated in the ceremony Saturday.
