Senate Study Committee on Portable Benefits for Independent Workers Meeting at Capitol

ATLANTA (October 10, 2019) | Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) will hold the first meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Portable Benefits for Independent Workers on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in room 450 of the Georgia State Capitol.

The Senate Study Committee on Portable Benefits for Independent Workers was created by the passage of Senate Resolution 325 during the 2019 Legislative Session. As stated in the resolution, the committee shall be comprised of five members of the Senate. The Senate Study Committee on Portable Benefits for Independent Workers will study the changing workforce to better understand the benefits associated with contractors and temporary employees in a gig economy. The study committee will consider legislation to make benefits more affordable and accessible to these individuals as they move about the workforce. The committee will report their findings no later than December 1, 2019.
