ATLANTA (June 30, 2016) | Sen. Vincent Fort (D – Atlanta) released the following statement following today’s MARTA Oversight Committee meeting:
“It is more important now than ever that MARTA should operate the Atlanta Streetcar. The recent report by the Georgia Department of Transportation is proof positive that City Hall’s operation of the streetcar is a disaster. This is why I will continue to author legislation to have MARTA operate the streetcar. MARTA performs 95 percent of the transit trips in metropolitan Atlanta on any given day, and for this reason, I believe MARTA’s transit professionals, not bureaucrats, should run the Atlanta Streetcar.”
