Sen. Mullis Appointed to Deal Transition Team

ATLANTA (November 16, 2010) – Governor-elect Nathan Deal appointed State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) today to serve on the elite panel that will guide his transition to become Georgia’s governor in January.  The 26-member Deal Transition Team will advise Deal on policy and budget matters and assist the governor in hiring the key members of his official staff.

“Senator Mullis is a trusted adviser who is not only a public servant, but also a dear friend,” said Deal. “I have the great fortune of having a tremendously experienced transition team, which will assure a seamless transfer of power on January 10. Jeff will serve an important role in this process.”

“I am very proud to serve the people of Georgia and Governor-elect Nathan Deal in this important position,” said Mullis. “As one of only two current legislators chosen to serve on this important transition committee, I hope to be able to provide wise counsel to my good friend Nathan Deal as he begins this important work.”

Consistently honored as one of the most influential Georgians by Georgia Trend magazine, Mullis is widely respected as one of Georgia’s most effective and conservative political leaders.

Soon to begin his sixth term in the state Senate, Mullis is currently the chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, chairman of the Transportation Subcommittee of Senate Appropriations, and is a member of the Rules, Banking & Financial Institutions, Economic Development, and Public Safety Committees. He is a critical member of the Republican leadership team in the state Senate.

Mullis resides with his wife Teresa and two children in Chickamauga, where he works as an economic developer.  He proudly represents the 53rd Senate District, which includes Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties.
