Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick Visits Fort Benning

ATLANTA (December 13, 2017) | Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R–Marietta) and members of the Returning Veterans Task Force visited Fort Benning on December 5th to hear a presentation conducted by Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program, Career Skills Program, Veterans Affairs and Army Continuing Education System and to tour the Fort.

“I was so honored and humbled to have been able to visit Fort Benning and educate myself more on programs and opportunities for our veterans,” said Sen. Kirkpatrick. “This topic is one that is especially close to my heart, having many members of my own family served in the army. Attending events like this help me to see the progress we are making in helping veterans in our state and country, but also to see what areas need the most improvement so the legislature can best serve our veteran community.”

Sen. Kirkpatrick’s father is a World War II veteran, one of her brothers is a Vietnam veteran and one is a Desert Storm veteran. In her tour at Fort Benning, Sen. Kirkpatrick was able to visit Martin Army Community Hospital, a parachute rigging facility, and the Bradley, Armor and Simulations training centers.
