Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick Recognizes Project Mail Call with Senate Resolution

ATLANTA (January 25, 2018) | Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R – Marietta) recognized Ed and Mary Ettel for their selfless drive to serve soldiers and volunteers overseas through Project Mail Call with Senate Resolution 582.

“What Ed and Mary Ettel began through Project Mail Call is such an admirable, selfless act,” said Sen. Kirkpatrick. “Everyone loves to get a hand-written letter and these customized care packages go even beyond that. I was honored to stand beside them today and present them with a Senate Resolution applauding their efforts in showing gratitude to the brave men and women that risk their lives every day to serve our country.”

Ed and Mary Ettel began Project Mail Call in 2005 in the basement of their home and have successfully expanded the project to become the official mission of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. Gaining more than 38,000 volunteers over a span of 12 years, Project Mail Call allows for customized care packages specific to soldiers’ needs to be sent overseas. As of July 2017, Project Mail Call has packed and mailed more than 8,000 care packages, weighing more than 126,000 pounds and is continuing to grow. This organization places an emphasis on those serving in remote locations, those who do not receive mail and those who provide aid to schools, clinics, orphanages or villages.
