Sen. Jeff Mullis and Sen. John McCainATLANTA (January 13, 2016)  |  State Senator Jeff Mullis (R- Chickamauga) recently attended a national security briefing given by U.S. Senator John McCain (R-Ariz), who currently serves as the Chairman of United States Senate Committee on Armed Services.

“It was an honor to join Sen. McCain and a few select people for an informative and detailed briefing on the current state of our nation’s security,” said Sen. Mullis. “The luncheon was a great opportunity to discuss threats against our country and everything that is being done to make sure we all remain safe. Information is the key to keeping our boarders secure and protecting Americans, both at home and abroad.”

Sen. McCain’s briefing focused on the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, known as ISIS or ISIL, and the threat they pose to U.S. national security. In addition, he highlighted the increased efforts the federal government has taken since the Paris attacks last month.

“The world is full of misguided individuals who want to destroy this country and the freedoms we cherish. We need to do whatever it takes to protect American citizens during this critical time in our nation’s history,” said Sen. Mullis.

Sen. Mullis served as a co-chair of U.S. Senator McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign in Georgia.
