Sen. Jeff Mullis Receives Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council Award

ATLANTA (November 23, 2016) | Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) received a Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) award last month. GHRAC presented this award to Sen. Mullis for his outstanding efforts in archives and records work in Georgia.

“It was an honor to receive this award,” said Sen. Mullis. “Georgia’s history is rich and diverse and we must do all we can to preserve it. Teaching our future generations the importance of our heritage is critical. By preserving our records and archives we can ensure that our history will never be forgotten.”

GHRAC 2016 ARCHIVES AWARDS

Morrow, GA, November 23, 2016 – Chancellor Henry M. Huckaby and Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) Chair P. Toby Graham presented Senator Jeff Mullis with the GHRAC Award for Legislative Advocacy during the fourteenth annual GHRAC Archives Awards ceremony at the Georgia Archives on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The GHRAC Awards recognize outstanding efforts in archives and records work in Georgia.

Senator Mullis of Chickamauga, Georgia, has been very active in honoring Georgia’s heritage. During the 2015-2016 sessions of the Georgia General Assembly, among other legislation, he sponsored SB 417, The Georgia Film & Television Trail Act. In 2013, he sponsored legislation commending the Georgia Civil War Commission. Senator Mullis previously sponsored legislation to promote the study of Georgia history in our schools, and he also plays a vital role with the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

GHRAC works to promote the educational use of Georgia’s documentary heritage and to support efforts to improve the condition of records statewide. The Board is charged with advising the Chancellor and the Georgia Archives on records and policy issues.
