Sen. Jeff Mullis Announces Installation of New Traffic Signal in Catoosa County

ROCK SPRING (November 2, 2017) | Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) is happy to announce that earlier today a new traffic signal light was activated at the intersection of Twin Cedars Road and Lee Clarkson Road on U.S. Highway 27 in the Rock Spring Community in Catoosa County.

“I want to commend all of our citizens and local officials for bringing this important issue to GDOT and myself,” said Sen. Mullis. “The installation of this traffic signal was imperative because it will make the intersection safer for our local citizens and those traveling through Catoosa County, but people still need to exercise caution when approaching this intersection. This was truly a team effort and I want to thank GDOT, Commissioner Long and everyone else who worked tirelessly to make the installation of this signal a priority.”

“The new traffic signal on US 27 at Twin Cedars/Lee Clarkson Road will improve the safety of the intersection and help traffic enter the busy US 27 corridor,” said Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) District Engineer Curtis DeWayne Comer. “The project would not have been possible without the support and partnership from Catoosa County.”

After numerous accidents at the intersection of Twin Cedars Road and Lee Clarkson Road, local public safety officials and concerned citizens brought the issue of needing a traffic signal light to Sen. Mullis and the Catoosa County Commission. After community input and reviews of numerous traffic studies that showed that this is a highly dangerous intersection, Sen. Mullis and Commissioner Long met with GDOT to begin work on installing a traffic signal light that was activated today.
