Sen. James Champions Resolution to Strengthen Ties with African Nations

ATLANTA, GA (February 22, 2013) – Senator Donzella James (D- Atlanta) led the passage of Senate Resolution 9 with vote of 41 – 1 today in the Senate Chamber.

“The continent of Africa is culturally diverse, rich in natural resources and primed for significant economic expansion in the years to come,” said Sen. James.  “I applaud my colleagues for supporting this important measure that seeks to create a mutually beneficial relationship between Georgia and all of the countries in Africa.”

Specifically, the resolution urges the Georgia Department of Economic Development to promote and strengthen beneficial ties with African nations, as is authorized by law and subject to available funds. The resolution further urges several specific actions to help meet the goal of strengthened relations.
