Sen. Jackson Newly Appointed to Senate Appropriations Committee

ATLANTA (January 12, 2009) — Senator Bill Jackson (R-Appling) has recently been appointed to the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle. The Appropriations Committee is responsible for writing the state budget and distributing funds to numerous government agencies, departments and organizations annually.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Senate Appropriations committee at this most serious time in the history of our state government,” said Sen. Jackson.

Among his other duties, he serves as Secretary of the Transportation Committee and is a member on the Committees of Economic Development, Natural Resources and the Environment, Veterans, Military and Homeland Security — Ex-Officio, and Education and Youth — Ex-Officio.

Sen. Jackson has been a member of the Senate since his election in 2007 after working for the House for 16 years in the past. He is the president of Tile Center, Inc. headquartered in Augusta, Ga., which includes five locations throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
