Sen. Harold Jones II Sworn In As Georgia State Senator

201411112HjonesDeskshot_3199ATLANTA (January 12, 2015)  |  As one of the first acts of the 153rd Georgia General Assembly, former Augusta solicitor general Harold Jones II was sworn in as the state senator for the 22nd Senate district of Georgia. His district includes the City of Augusta and portions of Richmond County.“I am honored to continue to serve the people of Augusta now in our state’s capitol,” said Senator Jones. “I look forward to representing our city and our region.”

The swearing-in ceremony took place at 10:00 a.m. on the floor in the Georgia Senate Chamber, in the state capitol building. Today was the opening day of the 2015 legislative session.

Prior to the Georgia Senate, Jones was formerly the solicitor general for Augusta, the first African-American to be elected to that position.
