Sen. Donzella James Welcomes Pastor Dr. Bernice King as Chaplain of the Day

ATLANTA (February 21, 2018) | Sen. Donzella James (D – Atlanta) welcomed Pastor Dr. Bernice King, Chief Executive Officer of the King Center in Atlanta, to serve as Chaplain of the Day on Wednesday, February 15, 2018, in the Georgia State Senate.

“Having Dr. King with us this morning was so fitting to start off our Valentine’s Day,” said Sen. James. “I am fortunate enough to call Dr. King a friend and the messages of love she gives exemplify her father. The King families purpose is to spread love and I am so grateful she got to share the mission her father created with our leaders today.”

Dr. King is the youngest of four children to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King. She is the only child to follow in her father’s footsteps and accepted her call into ministry. Dr. King graduated from Spelman College with a degree in psychology and she also obtained her Master’s of Divinity and Juris Doctor from Emory University. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the King Center here in Atlanta.
