Sen. Chapman Named Influential Georgian by Georgia Trend Magazine

ATLANTA (January 23, 2009) – State Sen. Jeff Chapman (R-Brunswick) was recently named one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend, a popular business and political magazine. Sen. Chapman has also been appointed by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle to vice-chairman of the Veterans, Military and Homeland Security committee for the 2009 Legislative Session.

“It is quite an honor to be mentioned as one of Georgia’s Most Influential,” Sen. Chapman said. “This certainly validates my resolve to continue to represent my district and all Georgians with the goals of preserving Georgia’s coast, improving health care and practicing fiscal responsibility.”

Sen. Chapman was chosen by Georgia Trend for his strong voice on diverse issues. He is an advocate for people with disabilities and a proponent of eminent domain reform.

In 2008 he was named Senator of the Year by the Initiative to Protect Jekyll Island State Park and won the Georgia Conservation Voters’ Leadership Award. Other awards Sen. Chapman has received include the George Jacobs Republican Volunteer of the Year Award; Friend of Medicine Award, presented by the Medical Society of Glynn for his efforts to enact meaningful tort reform; the McGarvey Sisters Preservation Hero Award, for his hard work to preserve the grounds of the Historic Glynn County Courthouse; the Homebuilders Association Presidential Service Award for his outstanding service and support of the building industry; the 2008 Legislator of the Year Award by ARC of Georgia for his support of people with disabilities; the 2008 Democracy Award by Georgia Common Cause and he was the first recipient of the Glynn County Republican “Man of the People” Award. Additionally, Sen. Chapman is endorsed by Georgia Right to Life and has received an A+ rating, the highest endorsement awarded by the National Rifle Association.
