Sen. Burt Jones Welcomes Gatewood Gators to the Senate

ATLANTA (February 12, 2019) | On Monday, February 11, 2019, Sen. Burt Jones (R – Jackson) welcomed the Gatewood Gators varsity football team to the Senate to celebrate their 2018 GISA AA State Championship. Sen. Jones was joined by members of the coaching staff and team in the Senate Chamber where they were presented with Senate Resolution 57.

“I am very proud of the Gatewood Gators for their outstanding season,” said Sen. Jones. “These young men and their coaches showed great sportsmanship and determination and represented our area well. I know from personal experience that football can open many doors and the competitive nature of the game builds a foundation for a strong future. I look forward to seeing them continue their success next season.”

The Gatewood Gators completed the 2018 season with a 10–2 record. The team was led by Head Coach Jeff Ratliff, Assistant Head Coach Tyler VanDusen, assistant coaches Robert Bush, Pat Hayes, Mike Kelly, Howard McMichael, and Josh Ringer; Headmaster Jeff Decker and Athletic Director Buster Douglas.
