Sen. Buckner to host Women’s Equality Day at the State Capitol

ATLANTA (August 19, 2010) – Sen. Gail Buckner (D-Jonesboro) will host a Women’s Equality Day program in the Senate Chamber of the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday, August 26.  The program will feature a presentation by Kaye Shipley, a board member of the League of Women Voters of Georgia.  Buckner will also present resolutions to various women leaders in honor of their contributions to their communities.  Established in 1971, Women’s Equality Day is a national celebration commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote.
