Sen. Ben Watson Appointed to the Southern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments

ATLANTA (August 5, 2015) | Sen. Ben Watson (R – Savannah) has been appointed by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle to serve on the Economic Development, Transportation & Cultural Affairs Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) of the Council of State Governments (CSG).

“I am honored to have been chosen by Lt. Gov. Cagle to work with the Southern Legislative Conference,” said Sen. Watson. “Georgia’s cultural and economic vitality is of utmost importance to me, and I look forward to working with other members to ensure the Southern United States continues to thrive and grow to its fullest potential.”

The Economic Development, Transportation & Cultural Affairs Committee is charged with studying critical issues regarding the progress and advancement of the Southern region. Economic and high tech investment, the arts and Southern state exports make up a few of the topics covered by this committee.

The SLC was founded in 1947, and is a member-driven organization located in Atlanta. The conference consists of 15 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Viginia. It is the largest out of the four groups operating under The CSG.
