ATLANTA (November 21, 2011) – Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) recently visited River Eves Elementary School in Roswell, to discuss the importance of science and technology.
At River Eves’ annual “Science Day,” students had the opportunity to conduct experiments and tour several other classrooms to observe the science projects in action. Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade were also offered the chance to put their creativity and physics knowledge to the test by participating in a school-wide egg drop contest.
Senator John Albers, vice chairman of the Science and Technology committee and fourth generation firefighter was among the attendees including Fulton County School System’s CIO Marisa Greenlee and members of the City of Roswell Fire Department.
“We are passionate about science and technology,” said Principal Neil Pinnock. “We are also especially honored that Senator Albers could share this experience with us.”
While there, Senator Albers spent time discussing the legislative process with members of the River Eves Student Council, and was named an honorary student council member.
“These students are the future of our country,” said Senator Albers. “Science Day is an exceptional tool to drive student achievement in science and technology while also engaging students in creative problem solving.”
