ATLANTA (August 26, 2013) – Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer (R – Duluth) announced today the appointment of Jennifer Yarber as Director of the Georgia State Senate Press Office.
“Jennifer’s extensive experience in strategic messaging, organizational management and media relations has been a tremendous asset to the Senate Press Office. Jennifer is a talented communicator who possesses a wealth of experience from both the public and private sector. During her time with the Senate, Jennifer has shown extraordinary leadership and organizational abilities and is a welcome addition to help lead our communication efforts forward,” said Sen. Shafer.
Since 2011, Jennifer has worked as Deputy Director of the Senate Press Office and began serving as Interim Director in January 2013. Prior to that, she served as Director of Communications at the Georgia Chamber, managing communications for the state’s leading business advocacy organization. In addition, Jennifer served as the Communications Manager at the Construction Suppliers Association.
Appointed by the Senate Administrative Affairs Committee, which Sen. Shafer chairs, Jennifer Yarber will begin serving as Director of the Senate Press Office effective Monday, August 26, 2013.
Sen. Shafer thanked Sen. Ronnie Chance (R-Tyrone) and Sen. Steve Henson (D-Tucker) who served with him on the subcommittee that recommended Jennifer.
