Goggans elected to Senate Republican Leadership

DOUGLAS, GA (November 8, 2010) – State Sen. Greg Goggans (R- Douglas) will serve as the new Senate Republican Caucus Secretary for the 2011 General Assembly, one of the highest ranking positions in the chamber.  Goggans was elected to this important leadership seat Friday by the State Senate Majority during the Republican caucus elections held in Macon.

“To create jobs and grow our economy, Georgia needs elected leaders who are steadfast in their conservative values and beliefs,” said Goggans.  “I wholeheartedly believe the Senate leadership team is committed to a fiscally-responsible government, keeping taxes low, cutting waste, and empowering the private sector to create the long-term prosperity we desperately need right now.  I am very honored to have been chosen by my fellow senators to this position.  I look forward to working closely with all members of the General Assembly and our new governor to ensure Georgia is on the right path to success.”

Caucus elections are traditionally held at the beginning of each term immediately following the general election.  The new leadership team will take office once the legislative session convenes on January 11.

Sen. Greg Goggans represents the 7th Senate District, which includes Atkinson, Bacon, Berrien, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Lanier, Pierce and Ware counties and a portion of Cook County.
