Chairs of Joint Human Trafficking Commission Comment on Final Report

ATLANTA (January 23, 2013) – State Senator Renee Unterman (R-Buford) and State Representative Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta), the co-chairs of the Joint Human Trafficking Commission, today released the following statements regarding the Commission’s final report:

“The release of today’s Joint Human Trafficking Study Report is the result of a coordinated, statewide effort to raise awareness and put a stop to human trafficking in Georgia,” said Sen. Unterman. “I would like to commend my co-chair Rep. Edward Lindsey, members of the Joint Human Trafficking Study Committee, and interested stakeholders for investing countless hours and resources into addressing the complex issues associated with human trafficking. It is imperative we act now to address these horrendous crimes taking place all over our state and protect these young victims from future abuse.”

“I want to thank the commission for its hard work and dedication to our joint efforts to eradicate human trafficking in our state,” said Rep. Edward Lindsey. “This report shows that while substantial progress has been made, more work needs to be done.”
