Senate Bill to Create the Maternal Mortality Review Committee Passes the Senate
ATLANTA (February 4, 2014) | The Georgia State Senate passed Senate Bill 273 today by a vote of 51-1. Sponsored by Sen. Dean Burke (R—Bainbridge), this legislation requires the Department of Public Health to establish a Maternal Mortality Review Committee for the purposes of reviewing and developing strategies to prevent maternal deaths in Georgia. Sen. Cecil Staton Will Not Seek Re-election
ATLANTA (February 4, 2014) | Sen. Cecil Staton (R- Macon) has decided not to seek re-election in 2014. Staton was elected to serve the 18th Senate District in 2004, which represents Crawford, Monroe, Peach and Upson Counties and portions of Bibb and Houston Counties. Sen. Steve Gooch Selected to Serve on Governor’s Severe Weather Warning Task Force
ATLANTA (February 3, 2014) – Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Sen. Steve Gooch (R – Dahlonega), chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, to the state’s newly-created Severe Weather Warning Task Force.
