The Buzz from the State Capitol

As the weeks have moved along, the Senate has turned their focus to other pertinent legislation while we wait for the House to pass their version of the FY 10 amended budget. In the meantime, the Senate has continued Appropriations Sub-Committee meetings in an effort to prepare for the version we will get from the House.

Sen. Grant’s Legislation Receives Unanimous Passage in Senate

ATLANTA (Feb. 5, 2010) – Yesterday, State Sen. Johnny Grant (R-Milledgeville) led the Senate to unanimously pass legislation that will save tax payers one-quarter of a million dollars per year. SB 324, authored by Sen. Grant, clarifies the powers and duties of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.

Senator Grant Honored for Commitment to Mental Health Improvements

MILLEDGEVILLE (June 8, 2009) – State Sen. Johnny Grant (R- Milledgeville) has been recognized by several prominent state publications and organizations for his tireless work to improve mental health care in Georgia. Grant was a key legislator involved with the passage of legislation ordering the restructuring of the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) this past session which he sees as a vital tool to grow the quality of life for mental health patients all over the state.
