Wiles Proposes Incentives to Local Governments Utilizing U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Programs

ATLANTA (Feb. 8, 2010) – State Sen. John Wiles (R-Kennesaw) today introduced legislation that would provide monetary incentives for local governments to utilize U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Section 287(g) and Secured Communities programs so that criminal illegal aliens are identified and turned over to the proper authorities.

Cobb Legislative Delegation Hosts Cobb County Forum Day

MARIETTA (Dec. 15, 2009) – The Cobb Legislative Delegation, chaired by State Sen. John Wiles (R-Kennesaw), held its annual Cobb County  public forum day on Monday.  Cobb County leaders and citizens attended the event to voice their thoughts and concerns about the upcoming 2010 Legislative Session.

Cobb Legislative Delegation works with the Center for Family Resources to bring emergency aid to flood victims

MARIETTA (Sept. 24, 2009) – Members of the Cobb County Legislative Delegation have been inundated with calls from their constituents asking how Cobb residents can help their neighbors who have been devastated by this week’s floods.  They are pleased to announce the Center for Family Resources (CFR) in Marietta has set up a special account for this purpose.  All donations will remain in Cobb County to help those affected while they anxiously await federal funds.  There will be a specific designated donation block on the Center for Family Resources main page at www.thecfr.org

Governor Signs Sen. Wiles’ Legislation Allowing Public Access to Juvenile Hearings

ATLANTA (May 1, 2009) – Governor Sonny Perdue yesterday signed into law Sen. John Wiles’ (R-Kennesaw) legislation giving the general public access to juvenile hearings. Amid strong public concern to protect foster children in the juvenile court system, Sen. Wiles authored Senate Bill 207 to improve the lives of children in state custody and bring real reform to Georgia’s child welfare system. Under the bill, extended family members, friends, neighbors and others who are concerned about a child’s welfare will have the right to attend hearings.

Governor Signs Sen. Wiles’ Family Victims’ Rights Legislation

ATLANTA (April 29, 2009) – Governor Sonny Perdue today signed into law Sen. John Wiles’ (R-Kennesaw) legislation (SB 151) giving family members of crime victims greater options in how they present their testimony before a jury. Under current law, family members are only allowed to deliver a victim impact statement by reading a written testimonial.
